Once every year our boats need to be dry-docked. This time it is Damai II that heads to Surabaya in Eastern Java for some care and maintenance after a busy year at sea.
The main purpose of docking is to inspect, clean and repaint the hull and check the propeller and drive shaft. We take the opportunity of the long break to address many areas, especially with a view to safety and guest experience on board.
Recaulking of the hull to maintain watertight integrity.
We always take the opportunity to work on our anchor by cleaning and installing new shackles
In the engine room there is always plenty of work including overhauling of the generators, gear box and main engine
This year we had a special focus on noise and vibration on board. A big investment in a new generator housed in a noise reducing box and 10 days work on the existing generators to reduce noise and vibration. We are very happy with the results! So much so that we have done similar work on Damai I as well.
Another big investment in quality service is our new reverse osmosis fresh water making system, spring mounted to reduce vibration. Capable of making 450 litres of water every hour!
Outdoors the woodwork receives plenty of loving care and attention from the crew. Many hours of sanding!
Dive related equipment such as the tanks and compressors receive annual clean and service
We are also replacing our soft furnishings throughout the boat so it will be comfortable on your return.
A lot of hard work by our excellent crew, many thanks to them!
