Damai II enjoyed their last charter before being hauled from the water to dry dock in Surabaya after a busy year touring the Indonesia archipelago.
The group of guests from mainland China boarded the boat in Labuanbajo and spent a few days diving around the Komodo National Park before travelling over the top of Sumbawa to finish in Bali.
Although Komodo was marvellous in every way they took a special liking to the manta madness we have been experiencing in the last few weeks at Karang Makassar in the central area of the park.
Many thanks to our guest Mr Xu Jinn for editing his experience with these wonderful creatures and sharing it with us all.
The guests were also lucky enough to see the eagle rays that have recently been hanging around the site too. Yay!!
Before they left the park there were a couple of opportunities to go ashore. Firstly to the beautiful and unique Pink Beach for a group photo opp….
…and the inevitable encounter with the famous Komodo dragons on Dragon Beach in Horseshoe Bay.
What do you mean they can swim!
After leaving the park the guests enjoyed a critter day at the volcanic island of Sangeang. Lots of cool stuff to see; an excellent selection of nudibranchs for the nudinerds and lots of fun is you’re shooting with a snoot.
Unfortunately the water temperatures have continued to be high and the coral bleaching on the dive sites in Moyo was pretty widespread
They finally finished with an awesome last day on the east coast of Bali with a dive on the famous US Liberty Wreck and then a couple of critter dives at Seraya Secrets and Blue Lagoon. What a great way to finish the trip before sailing into Benoa.
I hope you enjoy the group shot of all the guests along with our amazing crew. There is a ‘cheat sheet’ at the bottom if you want to test your memory and see how many of the crew’s names you can remember!
And stay tuned for updates on Damai II in drydock.
