The Forgotten Island
Departing from Maumere Bay, the Damai I liveaboard will make the first stop at the slopes at Pangabatan for the check-out dive. We then head over to the island of Serbete and and down through the channel for some critter diving at Adonara. Exploring along the south coast we shall dive some of the fishiest reefs in Indonesia; keep your eyes open for pelagics, mantas, mola mola and passing cetaceans. Continuing on to Rusa, one of the best dive areas in Indonesia, we spend our next days enjoying the beautiful coral encrusted rocks surrounded by schooling fish before heading southwards through the current rich Pantar Straits and Pulau Pura. There are a variety of dive sites which provide a superb mix of wide angle and macro subjects, along with plenty of excellent “muck” diving and the opportunity to visit local villages. From Alor we will island hop through the southern Malukus, fondly nicknamed the “Forgotten Islands”. We will stop at sloping reefs in Wetar or look for giant clams at Nautilus before heading east to the hard coral gardens and walls at Nyata. We can enjoy the schooling fish in channel at Leti and explore the deep drop-offs at Damar with the hope of seeing passing pelagics. The colourful soft-coral covered Tertuti Wall at Dai has some great ledges and even an arch for photo opportunities. Our final day will be spent on south of Tanimbar before our liveaboard cruise ends in Saumlaki, where guests can enjoy our complimentary airport transfer.
