Sail through the rarely visit islands and reefs of Halmahera, in the North Maluku which is famous for its second to number schooling of Barracuda and Jacks. Below will be the draft itinerary when you are onboard of Damai:

Day 1: Arrive into Ternate

The flight usually arrives in Ternate in the morning and you will go directly to Damai and make yourselves comfortable. You can complete a check out dive today depending on how you feel. We'll let you decide.

Day 2: Tifore

A small island between Halmahera and Sulawesi, Tifore's seamount has exuberant gardens of hard coral and plenty of life, including large schools of jacks and barracudas, as well as reef sharks.

Day 3: Halmahera Seamount

A surprise and a delight for everyone eyes. Coming for the depths of the ocean to 5 meters, this hidden treasure is booming with life: schooling oceanic trigger fish, rainbow runners, thousands of fusiliers reef sharks, turtles. We will spend the whole day there to go into Goraici for the night dive and safe anchorage.

Day 4: Goraici

Series of small islands, surprisingly good healthy reefs. This current rich location has a huge amount of schooling fish; surgeonfish, ocean triggerfish, snappers, fusiliers, rainbow runners, sharks and much more, we have seen in several occasions' mantas coming to feed in the shallow waters of a lagoon.

Day 5: Pulau Kusu

Currents flow in the channel between Bacan and Halmahera, the wares are the richest in the area and fans and soft corals dominate the reefs. Great combination of soft and hard corals and some of the fishiest dive in the whole Maluku. Good chances to see white and black tip reef sharks.

Day 6: Salea

Start the day at Batu Mandy near the island of Salea. Schools of fusilier, snappers and trevally embellish a pinnacle formation that sometimes hosts also manta rays and reef sharks. Later in the day enjoy the beautiful reefs around the islands of Pokal and Kusu. Frog fish, ghost pipe fish and pontohi have been spotted here.

Day 7: Pulau Bacan

Begin the day with a dramatic wall dive off Tanjung Marengarango. Check out the schooling fish; barracuda, snapper, fusiliers and the potential for some great passing pelagics.

Spend the afternoon enjoying some excellent muck diving along the boat-building beach at Penambuan; excellent habitat amongst the variety of black sand, pebbles, algae and coral heads. Hunt for octopus, colourful nudibranchs, frogfish, seahorses, cuttlefish, unusual shrimp.

Day 8: Pasir Karo

Few reefs in the area can compare with Pasir Karo. A Slopping reef, going to a depth of 25 mts were sandy bottom meets the reef. Immaculate coral growth and a perfect balance of life: small, medium and some big staff. The afternoon we will head toward the north east of the island of Sarawaki to do look for muck dicing in the afternoon and night dive.

Day 9: Pulau Lata Lata

Another spot that cannot be missed is the beautiful Island of Lata-Lata. There, not to long ago, our dive guides found a seamount that we named Charis point. This is a world class dive site better dove with a medium current to enjoy the fish life and his beautiful corals. In the afternoon enjoy the pretty shallows and the gorgeous soft coral garden in the area.

Day 10: Makian

The top spot for muck dive in the region. One of our favourite dive-site is Makian jetty, known for the excellent critter dive. Here a trained eye is required to see beyond the incredible camouflage of this creatures. Nudibranchs, ghost pipe fish, frogfish, devil scorpion fish and the elusive mimic octopus have been spotted here.

Day 11: Pilonga

The very last day of diving will be around the slopes of this small island, a combination of corals and sponges and good fish life, easy diving to finish this adventure.

Day 12: Departure

Guests will be escorted to the airport in Ternate and assisted with check in procedures, no doubt full of talk about the wonders of the most popular dive destination in the world.

DISCLAIMERS

The trip will be weather dependent and there might be long crossing required throughout. We will, try to adjust the best we can to the conditions and fulfil all itinerary briefed when you’re on the boat.

Due to the need to report to the local village, divers will need to be flexible with the start time of the first dive at some of the dive sites. We will ensure that you’re given timely update on this during the trip, however your understanding on last minute changes would be appreciate. This is because divers are only allowed in the water once permission is granted by the local villages and officers.

Damai are flexible to change itinerary suggested based on customer’s preference in the event that weather and time allow us to do so and if changes is agreeable by all participants on board

Cabin 1

At 22 sq meters / 237 sq feet, this room can be configured with a double bed (180cm x 200cm / 5.9 feet x 6.56 feet) or two single beds (90cm x 200cm / 2.95 feet x 6.56 feet). It has a desk and a wardrobe, three reading lights and a bed side table. The room is fully air-conditioned and has en-suite facilities, where the shower has a dividing glass door.
